For example, Robin (at Harold Zwiers) won 5 different 1st national ace pigeon titles as a yearling, including 1st Nat. Ace WHZB/TBOTB Marathon 2020 and 1st Nat. Bergerac against 25,628 birds. The 970 won at Bakhuis 1st Nat. Cahors against 8,333 pigeons 2022 with a lead of 2 hours and 10 minutes ahead of the entire country... While 970 managed to write a national classic to his name, his nest sister 969 won three times top 10 NPO Marathon! Walter van der Meulen has an impressive colony of marathon pigeons, which also manage to win national top prizes for other fanciers. Walter recently won 1st Nat. Barcelona against 4,820 pigeons 2023 with Barca Bont 760, 1st Nat. Bergerac against 24,043 pigeons 2019 with De Bergerac & 1st Nat. Ace Barcelona 2021-2022 with Barcelona Girl. The current base of Van Der Meulen pigeons is built up with the basic couple Super Kweker 823 x 116 (offspring won 3x 1st Nat. Barcelona) and their best breeding son Crack 61 (father 1st Nat. Jacky de Bruine has proven himself as one of the best marathon racers in the Netherlands, with top results such as 1st Nat. Barcelona 3,912 birds 2018 with El Cid and 2nd Nat. Barcelona 4,129 birds 2019 with Mr. Fit Barcelona. These pigeons form the base of his impressive strain. Another important breeder is Daughter Luca, who is (grand)mother of 1st Int.
